What to Bring With You

Bring an unexpired government-issued photo ID — a passport is ideal, though a driver's license is accepted. Bring every vaccination or immunization record you can locate, in any language; complete records frequently save patients from repeating vaccines they have already received. If you have ever had a positive tuberculosis test or been treated for TB, bring that documentation, and bring a list of any prescription medications you take. How Long Your Sealed I-693 Stays Valid

This is the question we are asked most, and the answer is not what most websites still say. A Form I-693 signed on or after November 1, 2023 does not expire on a calendar date the way older forms did. Since June 11, 2025, however, USCIS treats the form as valid only for the application it accompanied — it cannot be reused for a different or future filing, and a denied or withdrawn case means starting the medical exam over. Forms signed before November 1, 2023 still follow the previous two-year rule. If you are applying from Jersey City, time your exam to your filing rather than getting ahead of it.
